Research aims to advance knowledge that addresses the cultural, economic, health and societal needs of the communities we serve through research, scholarship, and creativity.
Job Summary
Responsible for training and being the primary point of contact for EPIC within the AU community. The incumbent will require a comprehensive understanding of clinical research processes, clinical billing standards, and chargemaster/order requirements. They will work collaboratively with technical expertise at AU IT systems, WMCGH IT systems, and members of the clinical research community to ensure that EPIC is used to enhance best practices in clinical research and to achieve efficiencies in operational and business processing as well as accomplish desired results while reducing expenses and improving service.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide subject matter expertise for education and dissemination of information for all components of EPIC applications and their implementation to the AU Community. Acts as a primary point of contact for EPIC research application inquires and interactions. Working as primary liaison between WMCGH IT and AU research EPIC users to assist with and resolve any issues. Documenting project statuses.
Working with WMCGH and assisting with integration of EPIC with other enterprise systems initially and on an on-going basis. Incumbent will provide expertise in understanding research workflows and processes and how they may impact EPIC research applications. Providing initial and ongoing training for the AU research community on any applicable integration regarding their impact on research workflows. Organizing meetings and communications as needed on behalf of AU for projects, and ensuring information is documented and presented in meetings regarding milestones and timelines.
Collaborate with other departments to support organizational requirements. Working with WMCGH and the AU research community to resolve issues and assess on-going performance. Provide recommendations and troubleshooting issues with EPIC regarding research. Acts as technical lead on applicable research projects for the AU research community.
Provide training and have expertise in any access security and data management policies related to EPIC research applications. Evaluate clinical trial protocols ensuring consistent development of study calendars which comply with study procedures. Develop, organize, and deliver training to users and community in a manner that is accessible, convenient and organized.
Write or contribute to the development of SOPs, policies, and training guides as they pertain to EPIC in research. Planning training sessions and developing training materials and communicating information to end users. Maintain detailed records and prepare communication as needed. Participate in and communicate effectively in inter-departmental meetings. Innovative and critical thinking to solve problems.
Work collaboratively with others application administrators to ensure the efficient delivery of clinical research services and support. Crosstrain in OnCore and Research Development Services to include study calendar review and conduct of Medicare Cost Analysis.
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college of university and a minimum of 5 years of experience in human research or project management including 3 years' experience in clinical research as a clinical research coordinator/research manager or 3 years of experience working as a database administrator
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 8 years of experience including experience in any of the following: IT Applications, clinical billing or clinical research.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using EPIC, conducting clinical Research or experience in clinical billing.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of project management techniques and tools, clinical research processes, clinical billing requirements, scheduling and clinical orders, HIPPA and IRB compliance data.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented with strong organizational, multitasking, decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills. Skilled in providing adult training on systems using a variety of methods which contribute to the user's success in using the system.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to make short-term deadlines in fast paced work environment with little supervision. Self-starter with demonstrated ability to maintain accountability. Ability to implement goals and action plans, respond to urgent requests, inquiries into down system time, and ensure continuity in the system across research.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Salary Range: $62,300 - $79,400 annually
Pay Band: B12
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
