Position Description
This is a temporary professional expert position and continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds and approval by the Governing Board.
Under direction, the Licensed Mental Health Clinician will provide mental health services to students to include individual and group counseling, develop intervention and treatment plans, and assist in the coordination of education and outreach plans (i.e.- workshops, trainings, and communication materials). The Licensed Mental Health Clinician will exercise independent decision making within the scope of their job responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health services, including brief, solution-focused individual and group counseling, mental health assessment, and referral services to students with a wide-range of mental health needs to support their academic success and retention.
- Assess the mental health needs of students and develop an appropriate plan of brief intervention and treatment plan.
- Provide triage and crisis intervention to students and individuals in need.
- Coordinate with other District employees, Campus Police, off-campus agencies (i.e., healthcare providers and local and state social services) and family members to identify, assess and monitor students of concern.
- Follow standard protocols for psychological counseling and adhere to ethical principles as stipulated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and/or American Psychological Association and in accordance with laws and regulations pertaining to behavioral healthcare in the State of California.
- Maintain currency of knowledge and skills related to the duties and responsibilities.
- Assist in the coordination of education and outreach efforts (i.e., workshops, trainings, and communication materials) to the Chaffey Community.
- Monitor and assist in maintaining the accuracy of print and electronic/online resources used by the Social Wellness and Behavioral Support program.
- Maintain complete mental health treatment records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the assignment.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
- Possession of a Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution in the field of clinical psychology, counseling, psychology, clinical counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, family and child counseling, or the equivalent
- Possession of a valid California state license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and/or Licensed Clinical Psychologist
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards of licensed mental health professionals
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and demonstrated crisis intervention skills and techniques
- Experience providing culturally sensitive treatment to a diverse client population and a commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of case management best practices and theory, principles and practices of behavioral health
- Demonstrated ability to make independent judgements, apply discretion, maintain privacy, consult when appropriate and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of clinical therapy best practices in the treatment of individuals, couples, and groups
- Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical responsibilities
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with underrepresented populations (i.e.- LGBTQIA+, Undocumented, African-American)
- Work experience in a college or university setting
- One or more years of experience providing CASE management, crisis intervention, counseling, and care coordination to young adults and/or college students

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Evening and weekend hours are required. Positions in this classification may be required to work varied hours according to need. Location may vary due to the assignment, which may require travel between campuses.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a 12-month, full-time temporary professional expert position. Effective date of employment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined. The monthly salary is $6,933.

Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
