Posting Context Statement:
Performs a wide variety of administrative support functions at the Kimberly Research & Extension Center; maintains program records, prepares reports, and provides liaison between management, other organizational units, and external customers; provides information on University and Human Resource policies, procedures, and required training to faculty and staff, assists faculty in coordinating various conferences and other educational programs. Responsible for providing technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine financial reports.
Position Overview:
Responsible for providing basic to moderately complex technical support for daily financial operations by performing a variety of tasks following policies and procedures. In addition to processing a variety of financial transactions and maintaining records, the position compiles data and generates routine financial reports. May handle cash, manage accounts receivable and/or payable transactions.
Duties may include:
- Purchase identified goods and services
- Submit invoices and receipts for payment
- Accept and recording payments
- Reconcile purchasing card statements
- Process travel claims and reimbursements
- Track transactions through completion in the centralized financial system
- File and maintain unit-level finance documents
- Originate personnel actions and processing corrections to pay in the centralized finance system
- Compile and summarizing data for routine reports
- Distribute financial reports
- Research discrepancies
- Provide assistance to departments on questions related to invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- One year providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures
- Using computer software and applications for researching and compiling financial information, preparing summaries and reports
- A Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance may substitute for the above experience
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Other:
- Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university vehicles
Additional Preferred:
- Experience analyzing information, identifying problems, defining alternatives, and developing recommendations for management/administrators
- Experience balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects
- Experience working well with others and displaying a professional attitude in dealing with people
- Experience gathering and compiling data for reports
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or otherwise move materials weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to work in adverse environmental conditions (dusty, hot or cold conditions outdoors) to obtain documents from other buildings and the pick-up/distribution of the mail and/or packages
