Posting Context Statement:
The Director of Dining Enterprises and Partnerships serves as the senior leader responsible for the strategic oversight and growth of all dining and food service operations at the University of Idaho. This senior leadership role oversees a comprehensive and expanding dining enterprise, including a campus dining contract valued at nearly $14 million, third-party partnerships with vendors such as the Universitys vending and pouring provider, local on-campus merchants, and self-operated dining The Lookout Restaurant and Bar. This position is instrumental in driving innovation, operational excellence, and revenue growth for the University of Idahos dining enterprises.

Position Overview:
The Director will play a pivotal role in advancing the Universitys partnerships within the food, beverage, and hospitality industries, leveraging these relationships to enhance the campus dining experience and support institutional goals. Acting in a business development capacity, this role will identify and cultivate new opportunities to strengthen the Universitys position as a regional leader in dining and hospitality, exploring opportunities generate new revenue streams.

Duties may include:
  • Strategic planning

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Cultivate new opportunities for campus dining

Required Experience:
  • Three years of procurement or contract management
  • Two years of supervisory or project management experience
  • Three years of experience with food service management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management or related field

Required Education:
  • Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management or Business Administration; four additional years (for a total of seven years) of experience in food service management including vendor relations and university dining operations may substitute for Bachelors Degree

Required Other:
  • Must have valid drivers license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work nonstandard extended hours with a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays


Additional Preferred:
  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing contracts with food service providers, beverage vendors and third-party partners
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, including forming strategic partnerships with corporate, local and national partners to drive revenue growth
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and ensuring the financial success of food service operations, with a focus on revenue growth, cost control and profitability
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex projects, from initiation through execution, including coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, budgets, and ensuring successful delivery of projects that align with organizational goals
  • A proven track record of cultivating and managing relationships with industry leaders, corporate partners, and organizations, with an existing book of business that can be leveraged to drive new opportunities for the Universitys dining enterprise
  • Working for an institution of higher education
