Job Summary

The Office of Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution encourages applications for the Coordinator position! This position is responsible for assessing alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Honor Code and determining appropriate actions. The Coordinator role has a high amount of student contact and serves primarily as a facilitator for the student conduct and conflict resolution processes. The University of Colorado Boulder student conduct and conflict resolution processes are based in a developmental and progressive response to student conduct violations, including academic integrity violations. These processes are aimed at helping students acknowledge responsibility for their actions and assist them in learning behaviors which will help them in being successful members of the CU community. The Division of Student Affairs consists of 30 departments that provide student support and services dedicated to helping students become successful, curious, competent individuals during their time at CU Boulder. The work in Student Affairs supports all factors of the student experience, no matter what department a staff member may work in. This includes where students live, eat, make friends, build professional skills and find help if they need it. Many departments provide involvement opportunities, educational resources and support services to help students find their community and build lifelong skills. Student Affairs also has shared services departments that support the work and staff of our student-facing areas, including areas like assessment, business services, financial planning, human resources, marketing communications and information technology (IT).
With over 800 staff members in the Division of Student Affairs, our diverse team is uniquely positioned to personalize the student experience and advocate for students, enhancing their success inside and outside the classroom. Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution (SCCR) provides students with individualized responses to support community standards and promote positive student behaviors and responsibility both on and off campus. Students are encouraged to think about how they are members of the larger Boulder community and consider how their actions and behaviors may affect others. The CU Restorative Justice program helps address the relationship between victims, offenders and the community in a way that repairs the impacts of an incident, holds the offender accountable for their actions and builds community. Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution also provides resources and support for students who are navigating challenges and upholds CU Boulder's standards of academic integrity with the Honor Code.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Conduct Officer:
  • Adjudicate alleged academic and nonacademic violations of the Student Code of Conduct or Honor Code.
  • Facilitate restorative justice and conflict resolution processes.
  • Monitor students progress in required activities and sanctions, and exercise discretion with the timeline in which activities and sanctions need to be completed.
  • Adhere to code of conduct due process standards which align with Colorado State Statutes and federal laws including, but not limited to, FERPA.
  • Apply effective sanctions that emphasize education, student development and responsible behavior. Initiate referrals when appropriate to resources/departments on campus.
Administration:
  • Maintain files on all assigned cases, track sanctions and investigations as necessary. Provide follow-up contact with students as needed.
  • Supervise designated programs and special projects.
  • Provide support and feedback for the development of student behavior programs for conduct matters.
Leadership and Teamwork:
  • Provide exceptional leadership for all professional, classified, and student staff in SCCR and the conduct area for the Office of Residence Life.
  • Collaborate with Hall Directors to provide support in their role as hearing officers
  • Participate on committees within student affairs and the university.
  • Provide support in the development and advancing of the department's philosophy, mission, and programs.
  • Manage student staff or graduate assistant staff as needed.


What You Should Know

  • This is a hybrid position with necessary in-person hours. Remote work is available depending on the needs of the day/office. Current work modality is 3 days in-person and 2 days remote. Modality is subject to change based on SA policies and departmental needs.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Some nights and weekends.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis. Degrees that will be completed in spring 2025 will be considered.
  • 1 year of professional experience working one on one with students on a college campus. Professional experience may include full-time employment and/or graduate internships and assistantships.
