(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and management of the university's technical engineering, enterprise applications, and architectural needs. Ensures that all infrastructure and operational initiatives align with the university's mission, objectives, and budgetary constraints. Fosters a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration within UITS and across the broader university community.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy for infrastructure engineering, enterprise application management, and enterprise architecture
2. Leads and mentors the Infrastructure Engineering, Enterprise Application & Integration, and Enterprise Architecture teams
3. Cultivates a culture that aligns with the mission and objectives of UITS and the university
4. Collaborates with the cybersecurity team to implement robust security measures, including vulnerability assessments, incident response planning, data governance best practices and ongoing system monitoring to safeguard university data and assets
5. Oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of core infrastructure systems, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud services
6. Ensures systems reflect the highest state of technical sophistication within budgetary limits
7. Conducts research on emerging technologies to inform infrastructure development efforts
8. Guides the prioritization, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide applications
9. Oversees the evaluation, selection, and lifecycle management of off-the-shelf software solutions alongside the development of custom-built applications to meet the university's strategic and operational needs
10. Establishes and maintain application portfolio and vendor relationships
11. Oversees application integration to ensure seamless interoperability between systems
12. Establishes standards and procedures for application utilization and management
13. Develops and maintains an enterprise architecture framework that supports the university's strategic goals
14. Ensures technology solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices
15. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and effectiveness
16. Reviews technology initiative outcomes and align teams on target metrics
17. Implements best practices for IT service management, including incident, problem, and change management
18. Establishes communication channels across technical and business functions to align common goals
19. Partners with academic and administrative units to understand and support their technology needs
20. Ensures compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and university policies
21. Designs and implements standards and procedures under the guidance of the CIO
22. Develops and manages budgets for infrastructure and operations
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or other applicable field.
Required Experience
Ten (10) years of progressive IT experience in infrastructure and operations management inclusive of progressive leadership and management experience. Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale IT projects and teams.

Demonstrated experience supporting researchers and large-scale, mission-critical technology infrastructure initiatives at a Carnegie R1 or R2 research institution

KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or PMP
In-depth understanding of best practices and trends in the higher education industry
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to higher education IT
Advanced knowledge of infrastructure design methodologies and development
Proficiency in enterprise-wide applications and integration technologies
Knowledge of SDLC and application development lifecycles
Experience with emerging technologies such as cloud computing, virtualization, and cybersecurity
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, and presentation skills
Advanced project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
Strong strategic planning abilities with a focus on aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals
Excellent analytical skills to assess technology needs and propose effective solutions
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
