Job Summary:

The Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a full-time radiation oncologist to serve as a faculty member primarily working at a community-based practice at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC), with an option to participate in clinical practice at the department's current sites of practice within the Metro Denver region. Many CRMC providers elect to live in Ft. Collins or other nearby towns in Northern Colorado. Other department faculty members will assist with clinical duties and vacation coverage via a combination of in-person and remote service.

This position requires the completion of an accredited residency in radiation oncology and ABR certification. Applicants must be able to obtain licensure for the practice of medicine within the state of Wyomng (and Colorado as applicable), prescriptive authority and obtain privileges at our participating hospitals.

The position is expected to evaluate and manage patients with cancer and certain benign neoplasms with participation in departmental peer review processes (i.e. chart rounds), multidisciplinary tumor boards, and clinics. The work will be done in a hybrid arrangement with a portion involving on-site presence and a portion accomplished remotely. Current technologies at CRMC include 2 Varian linacs (TrueBeam and VitalBeam), 4DCT, CBCT, 4D CBCT, DIBH, SGRT, IDENTIFY, SBRT, FFF. A new CT sim has been approved and will be installed in the next year. The hospital EMR is Epic. Mosaiq is used for the radiation oncology EMR but this will be replaced with Aria in 1-2 years. Eclipse is used for contouring and planning. Remote supervision is available through Microsoft Teams. Current staffing includes 6 therapists, 1.5 FTE dosimetrists, 2 nurses, one scheduler and one authorization specialist. Physics is staffed via the highly regarded Colorado Association of Medical Physicists (CAMP). Brachytherapy and SRS services are provided to patients at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain active medical staff privileges at appropriate facilities

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is expected to work onsite and remotely. Onsite location is in Cheyenne, WY and potentially Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

To qualify for the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must have achieved this rank or equivalent via an institutional evaluation process similar to that at the CU School of Medicine or must have a record of academic accomplishment that would merit appointment to this rank at the CU School of Medicine.

Assistant Professor:
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited radiation oncology residency and ABR Board Eligibility at the date of hire

Associate Professor:
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited radiation oncology residency and ABR Board Certification
  • 5+ years of post-residency clinical experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $325,000 to 437,000

Associate Professor: $375,000 to 487,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
