Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Administration, the Director of University Conference Services is responsible for coordinating events sponsored by on-campus and off-campus groups to maximize a successful and profitable conference service program for the University.
This position requires travel to other university locations as well as evening and weekend hours.
Essential Functions
- Manages and actively solicits for external events and campus space rentals.
- Develops and oversees contracts, insurance requirements and invoices for external group events and catering.
- Provides campus tours of facilities for potential clients including summer conference groups.
- Negotiates and oversees corporate hotel rates and reservations for individual and group stays for University guests; conducts site visits with hotels and other venues for lodging.
- Facilitates internal and external events, including all summer conferences at the Lincoln Center and Rose Hill campuses, and determines charges as it relates to the cost of events. Provides other hospitality information including restaurants and other off campus venues for University events.
- Coordinates all filming by external groups for movies and television at all campuses.
- Participates in pre-conference meetings with client, food service and operations for large scale events.
- Manages conference budgets, forecasting revenue and potential growth by identifying sources of additional business opportunities. Produce BPREP budgets for projected revenue and expenditures.

Management Responsibilities
Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.
Additional Functions
- Develops ongoing relationships with custodial, security and outside vendors to ensure effective communications as relates to the successful outcome of an event.
- Works closely with Residential Life in coordinating and implementing a successful summer conference program.
- Assists with other University events, such as Jesuit Ordinations.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of six years' related experience in Conference Services or similar work settings.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to plan for and manage multiple projects independently and effectively, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education
Minimum Starting Salary: $115,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $125,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
