Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Bagwell College of Education (BCOE) at KSU is one of the largest and strongest educator preparation providers in Georgia offering bachelors, masters, specialists, and doctoral degree programs on-campus, blended, and fully online.
All KSU educator preparation programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and many programs are additionally accredited by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Bagwell is at the forefront of educator preparation, advancing educational excellence through innovative teaching, research, and service in an ever-changing digital and global learning environment. Bagwell has award-winning faculty and our graduates are sought after by school systems in Georgia and beyond.
As one of the larger departments at KSU, the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education has more than 80 full-time and part-time faculty members. The department serves over 1,000 Elementary and Early Childhood Education undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate majors. It offers programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education is offered online. Certification for pre-kindergarten to grade five is embedded in the undergraduate program. In addition, the department offers the Birth to Kindergarten Bachelor of Science degree program.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education (EECE) with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate elementary and early childhood mathematics education courses (e.g., content and/or methods courses for elementary teachers) and other related courses as needed.
- Modeling research-based teaching and assessment practices that ensure academic success for students from various backgrounds.
- Maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda.
- Providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
- Mentoring and/or supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate, or foreign equivalent, in mathematics education or Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in mathematics education. The degree must be earned by the start date.
- At least 18 credit hours in mathematics (or related) content at the graduate level.
- At least three years of teaching experience in PK-12 school settings.
- Evidence of a commitment to creating and working in inclusive educational environments that respect the integrity of learners from various backgrounds.
- Evidence of the ability to conduct scholarly activity commensurate with rank and university classification.
- Ability to use and model technology in the classroom and/or virtual settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of elementary and/or early childhood teaching.
- Demonstrated record of innovative and effective pedagogical and research practices that are responsive to all students.
- Experience teaching at the university level.
- Experience working with prospective and/or in-service teachers.
- Demonstrated record of seeking external funding.
- Building mutually beneficial community partnerships.
- Experience with multiple modes of instructional delivery (e.g., in-person, hybrid, asynchronous online).
- Demonstrated record of involvement in professional organizations at the state, regional, and/or national/international levels.
