The Long Beach Community College District is seeking to establish a pool of qualified candidates for the role of Administrative Assistant in a Limited Term Employee (LTE) capacity. This pool will support varying departments across the District based on need. Positions will vary from part-time hours to full-time hours with length of assignment from 2 months to 6 months or more. Open positions are available immediately and will have a continuous need. Candidates will be tested and scored and selected to interview based on their ranking. The pool will be established through June 30, 2025 or until it has been exhausted.
Minimum Requirements: An Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative support; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
The successful candidate will need to:
- be adaptable and flexible
- be a creative problem solver
- exhibit exceptional customer service skills, business communication, project management, and organizational skills
- have the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders across the District and lead a diverse team
- Have experience with Microsoft Suite and familiarity with office administrative support duties

- Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis with proper justification and approval from Human Resources.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Administrative Assistant is responsible for independently performing a wide variety of difficult, specialized and responsible office and administrative support functions for a department or manager requiring detailed knowledge of District and department rules, policies and procedures. Incumbents may provide backup to other office clerical and administrative staff. They may provide administrative support services for a manager or department staff.
Administrative Assistant is distinguished from Senior Administrative Assistant in that an incumbent in the latter class performs a variety of difficult, responsible, sensitive and confidential office administrative support functions for a Dean, Director or manager at that level.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
An Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative support; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
