Job Summary
Campus Recreation requires a dynamic and forward-thinking Esports Coordinator to oversee and enhance an already thriving program. The role is integral to the continued growth and success of Augusta University (AU) Esports. This individual will be integral in shaping competitive gaming at AU. This person must stay in tune with the Esports industry, recognizing trends in the style of play and ensuring the program remains attractive to current and potential students. In addition to a strong understanding of the Esports industry, this person will oversee streaming, production, and community management on various platforms.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
MANAGE: Lead and manage all aspects of the Augusta University Esports program, ensuring alignment with the institution's strategic goals. Work to grow the Esports program by connecting with interested students, seeking opportunities for competition, creating effective promotional events, and collaborating with other departments.
LEADERSHIP: Act as the primary supervisor for the Esports program, student leadership within the program, and interns. Foster a spirit of excellence and teamwork. Chair the Esports Council, leading strategic initiatives and discussions for the advancement of the program.
OPERATIONS: Oversee the technical operations of the Esports Arena, ensuring optimal performance and user experience. Create opportunities for students to engage in high-quality production, streaming, and shout casting in the Esports realm.
OPPORTUNITIES: Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for growth and development of AU Esports. Conceptualize and execute engaging events for the team, enhancing community engagement and team spirit.
RECRUITMENT & DEVELOPMENT: Lead the process of interviewing and selecting coaches for the competitive teams, ensuring high-quality coaching and mentorship. Develop and maintain team rosters and practice schedules. Maintain and establish policies and best practices, ensuring compliance. As necessary, be able to provide conflict resolution and administer disciplinary measures.
PARTNERSHIPS: Serve as a primary contact between AU Student Affairs, Georgia Cyber Center, and academic staff, facilitating effective collaboration. Establish and maintain robust relationships with external esports leagues NACE and Peach Belt Conference, enhancing visibility and opportunities for the program. Serve as liaison between AU Esports and other institutions, promoting partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in sports/recreation management, education, or related field with one (1) year of directly related applicable experience in working with the administration and maintenance of eSports programs. CPR/AED/First Aid certification. (These certifications are not required for hire, but must be gained within 6 months of being hired for the position).
Preferred Qualifications
Whether as a player, assistant, or coach, 1 year or more involvement in competitive gaming at the collegiate level and demonstrated success in a leadership position for competitive gaming at the collegiate level.
Experience in competitive gaming industry as a player, coach, live streaming commentary, and streaming editor, and media production.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Knowledge of principles and practices used in the planning and execution of Esports
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Excellent analytical, time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated eSports program management and customer service abilities
This position is responsible for a wide array of important decisions involving people and processes. It is critical the incumbent has outstanding judgment and the ability to work autonomously; Portions of user information used for program registration may be deemed confidential.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday *Work outside regular business hours may be required.
Pay Band: B7
Salary: $43,888/annually - $44,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
