Sequoias Community College District is seeking candidates who are qualified and equity-minded to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as a Paramedic faculty beginning August 2025.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the College of the Sequoias Paramedic Program. Possible additional offerings depend on the expertise and preference of the successful candidate and could include courses in Emergency Medical Technician- Basic (EMT-B).
- Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMS educational program offerings.
- Prepares and delivers instruction for the Paramedic program on-site or off-site, as needed; supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
- Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements, to include calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of program, course, and student/participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports.
- Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate
- Participates in activities that promotes the EMS programs, to include student recruiting, and program marketing events, as appropriate
- May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, may participate in the recruitment of assistant staff, as appropriate to the area of operation
- Commit to professional excellence by remaining current in the subject matter and techniques of effective instruction through participation in professional development programs in areas such as multimedia in the classroom, learning communities, school-to-work initiatives and other new technologies that may affect the teaching discipline.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the program director
Assignments may include evening hours and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District campuses: Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.
Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours, participation in department and/or division responsibilities, and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity, which is respectful of diversity Districtwide.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must meet the following criteria.
- Be a physician, registered nurse, physician assistant, or paramedic, currently certified or licensed in the State of California.
- Be knowledgeable in the current course content of the United States Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards
- Have six (6) years experience in an allied health field and an associate degree
- Have two (2) years experience in an allied health field and a baccalaureate degree.
- Be responsible for areas including, but not limited to, curriculum development, course coordination, and instruction.
- Be qualified by education and experience in methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction, which shall be documented by at least forty (40) hours of instruction in teaching methodology.
Following, but not limited to, are examples of courses that meet the required instruction in teaching methodology:
(A) California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) "Training Instructor 1A, 1B, and 1C", or Instructor 1.
(B) National Fire Academy (NFA) "Fire Service Instructional Methodology" course, and
(C) A course that meets the U. S. Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 2002 Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors, such as the National Association of EMS Educators' EMS Educator Course.
- The equivalent (Established via the COS equivalency process, see note below.)
JOB REQUIRED CORE SYSTEM COMPETENCY
The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 53022.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The Hiring Committee seeks the following:
- Successful experience teaching students of ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Teaching experience in a clinical setting with out of hospital EMS related topics
- Commitment to developing and updating instructional activities, course syllabi, course outlines and other necessary material.
- Evidence of the ability to use a variety of teaching strategies and assessment methods that encourage retention while successfully challenging a diverse student population.
- Ability to incorporate student learning outcomes objectives within course and program and willingness to develop and use stated objectives and measures.

- Demonstrated experience and commitment to integrating new technologies into the learning process, including but not limited to interactive technologies for on-campus and on-line courses.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
