Position Information

Hiring Department: Recreational Sports

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $40,480 Annually

Purpose of Position

Essential Functions

Leadership Challenge Course
  • Drive the growth and development of Leadership Challenge Course programs by designing and implementing innovative activities, team-building exercises, and new course offerings to meet the diverse needs of participants.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, or certifications to enhance knowledge and skills
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork to enhance the overall participant experience.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Leadership Challenge Course-related communications with campus departments, student organizations, and external groups.

Outdoor Adventure Program
  • Develop and implement learning outcomes and assessment tools that assure the program/event targets high-impact practices of student development and leadership, community engagement and service learning.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director,
  • Coordinator will oversee, review, and produce input for the Outdoor Adventure Program including all rules, policies, supervision, assessment, scheduling, safety, training and evaluations.
  • Coordinator will train, schedule, supervise and evaluate staff consisting of, students, and student supervisors.
  • Coordinator will oversee, review, and produce input for the risk management protocols of the Leadership Challenge Course.
  • Develops budget recommendation, prepares budget request and maintains budget records.
  • Collaborate in developing, implementing, and managing events/programs with other departments on and off campus.
  • Coordinator will on occasion serve as back up to the Outdoor Adventure Trips Coordinator and may have to plan, lead, and evaluate trip and climbing gym operations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree

and

Experience: 0-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree and up to 5 years of professional experience in a university recreation
