Director of Community Grants and Programs, UT Martin Ripley Center

The University of Tennessee Office of Regional Centers and Online Programs seeks to hire a Director of Community Grants and Programs at the UT Martin Ripley Center to lead our community engagement, outreach, and scholarship initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading efforts in recruitment and retention of a diverse student population.
  • Acting as Principal Investigator for grant awards and ensuring compliance with grant objectives.
  • Providing subject matter expertise in advocacy, strategic planning, and policy reinforcement.
  • Managing grant-related activities and ensuring adherence to university policies.
  • Supervising work-study students and overseeing staff development programs.
  • Assisting with proposal development and managing data for progress reporting.
  • Directing educational guidance programs, after-hours tutoring, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Collaborating with local schools, community partners, and businesses to identify educational needs and funding opportunities.
  • Writing and managing grant applications and facilitating program implementation.
  • Advocating for rural education needs and building the Center's capacity for securing grants.
  • Leading recruitment efforts for workforce development programs and producing promotional materials.

    Job Skills:
  • Knowledge of youth-focused program regulations through the U.S. Department of Education and TNDOE.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and implement all relevant UT policies and procedures and Uniform Guidance policies.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate staff and staff activities.
  • Ability to build positive rapport with target school administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to coordinate and plan program activities with other PI/Project Directors.
  • Ability to manage the project using insightful decision-making.
  • Skilled in human and public relations.
  • Knowledge of conducting career advisement, career assessment, educational opportunities, advisement, and financial aid advisement.
  • Ability to utilize computer skills in daily project operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and group communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a safe, equitable, and professional work climate.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree required

    Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience managing grants, or experience in Sponsored Programming. Minimum Five years' experience in education. Knowledge of best practices in community engagement and working with diverse audiences Three years of successful full-time work experience with public educational institutions or programs supporting secondary or post-secondary students; experience in program management with a documented record of increased responsibility and influential decision-making, and supervision of personnel, public relations, and community outreach; demonstrated research and writing ability. Successful grant budget reconciliation experience. Five year's experience/employment with higher education experience is desirable.
