Job Summary

Assist manager/director with flow cytometry core facility operation to support the Augusta University Georgia Cancer and Augusta University campus Investigators and their labs and staff. Responsible for assisting campus in maintenance of and all flow labs and cytometers, analyzers, and cell sorters.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Daily/weekly/monthly maintenance, coordination of service, QC and operation of 8 flow cytometers; 6 analyzers and 2 cell sorters and accompanying support equipment
Train and supervise users as needed (these include AU students, fellows, faculty, technical staff) in operation and daily maintenance of all flow cytometer analyzers and concomitant software
Perform biohazardous (BSL2+) and non-biohazardous cell sorting on the ThermoFisher Bigfoot and nonbiohazardous cell sorting on FACS-Aria for users
Assist with 7+ offline computer analysis stations and their multiple analytical and data import/export software
Assist with general lab maintenance including inventory and supply ordering
Attend regional/national meetings/webinars for continuing education on emerging flow cytometry knowledge and technology
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in life science with at least two years direct, independent experience running flow cytometer or cell sorter.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality; Detail-oriented; Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: B8
Salary Minimum: $45,400 - $50,675
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
