Salary/Pay Range: $50,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a full-time chemistry instructor (1.0 FTE - benefits eligible) position starting in August 2025. This position is not eligible for tenure. Duties may include teaching on-site chemistry lecture and lab courses, with other courses possible depending on the expertise of the successful candidate. The full teaching load associated with this position is 24 contact hours per 9-month academic year, which is approximately 12 hours in the lab/classroom per week during the 9-month academic year.

Job competencies include:

1) Ability to teach in both a chemistry lecture and laboratory setting.

2) Strong organizational skills pertaining to curricular design and execution.

3) Ability to actively engage with a broad student population.

4) The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

5) Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

The normal workload for this position is 95% teaching and 5% service, with potential for this workload distribution to be modified to reflect specific duties negotiated upon the successful candidate's hiring.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

· Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field is required.

· PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific field is preferred.
