Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Maximizes the use of physical research space resources for academic and administrative units at Kennesaw State University. Evaluates, maintains, and monitors occupied and available research space, providing inventory usage information to campus units as needed. Collaborates with KSU colleges to support the development of college-specific research space policies.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works with the Office of Research to implement University-wide research space policy.
2. Works with KSU Facilities in developing and evaluating the research space inventory. This may entail in-person evaluation and assessment of research spaces in use and under construction at Kennesaw State University.
3. Works with representatives from each college at KSU to develop college and discipline-specific research space usage policies; Will continue these relationships
4. Builds and maintains research space inventory for use by the Office of Research
5. Works with the Office of Research to develop policies for using shared (e.g., common) research spaces.
6. Assists in evaluating proposals by investigators for use of non-assignable research spaces.
7. Develops and maintains familiarity with research activities in assigned and non-assignable research spaces.
8. Works with EHS to ensure appropriate laboratory safety guidelines are followed and used.
9. Becomes knowledgeable about general research activities and expertise in each college
10. Coordinates with faculty teams (as well as partners outside KSU) from various disciplines and departments to support effective and efficient usage of research space
11. Assists in reporting space usage research to federal agencies.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science or a related field.

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
Three (3) years of research work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a discipline supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and/or National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Preferred Experience
Experience working in a laboratory setting or comparable setting.
Experience coordinating, planning, and developing research workspaces.
Experience in writing, editing, and proofreading
Experience with electronic space management platforms (e.g., Maximus or closely related software package)
Experience preparing and delivering reports to various stakeholders in space management and usage

Proposed Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $64,500. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Comprehensive understanding of the nature of laboratory work in various disciplines, both wet- and dry-lab usage requirements.
Familiarity with best practices in the field
Experience in supervision of student and non-student workers in a laboratory setting.

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
