Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Student Services Advisor assists in the development and implementation of GSS Student Services policies, procedures, requirements, activities, and events.



The Student Services Advisor provides direct support to students, including academic advisement, planning, registration, problem-solving, information and referral. They assist with the implementation of GSS/department events and activities, including, but not limited to, orientation, registration, and graduation.



This position requires periodic travel, weekend, and evening work.



Essential Functions

  • Provides information on curriculum/plans of study to students, faculty, alumni, and all GSS and University departments

  • Provides individual advisement to MSW/BASW students on academic programs, rights, requirements, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all student and Student Services data and documentation.

  • Effectively and consistently utilizes specialized systems of record such as DegreeWorks, Banner, & Slate.

  • Supports BASW/MSW students' social & emotional well-being and provides information & referrals when appropriate (e.g., Office of Disability, Counseling/Psychological services).

  • Demonstrates awareness and respect for diversity, equality, and inclusion in work with students and all GSS, University, and community stakeholders.

  • Monitors and maintains GSS and the University academic advising system.

Additional Functions

  • Manages and maintains systems and processes for all Student Services-related communications.

  • Assists with implementing student-related events and activities, including, but not limited to, orientation, registration, graduation, career development, conferences, workshops, and other social/academic events.

  • Participates in Student Services Department meetings and GSS/University meetings and events as required.




Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 3 years of student service experience.




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Ethical, sound judgment, detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills.

  • Strong professional communication skills.

  • Function independently as part of a team and able to adapt to changes in priorities.

  • Technical proficiency with commonly used software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google.

  • Ability to learn new software systems and applications as necessary.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education




Preferred Qualifications

  • MSW Degree

  • 3+ years of student service experience within a higher education setting.




Minimum Starting Salary: $64,597.50



Maximum Starting Salary: $68,000.00



Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
