Salary Range: $50,000 - $54,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

This is a full-time, 9-month, on-campus, non-tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Teaching Professor level with 80% teaching and 20% service work distribution in the Department of Health Science. This position is expected to teach 24 credit hours per academic year. The responsibilities include conducting in-person and online teaching in the undergraduate Health and Wellness program and advising and mentoring students. These may include courses such as Personal Fitness and Wellness, Health Behavior Change, Culture and Health, Program Planning and/or Program Evaluation. Faculty also participate in both internal and external professional service activities and demonstrate collaborative interests and collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement.



Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students both in-person and online courses.
  • Provide mentorship to students.
  • Engage in various service activities within the department, college, UCCS, the profession of health and wellness, and the community.
  • Maintain, develop and schedule student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress towards course learning objectives.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Participate in meetings and other activities that advance the mission and goals of the department and college.
  • Other duties as determined by the Dean and Department Chair.

Qualifications
  • To be considered for this role, you must possess a Master of Science in a Health and Wellness related field.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience or 1-year equivalent experience in the health and wellness field is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), videoconferencing software (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, and familiarity with online Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas, Noodle, Blackboard) is required.
  • A terminal degree (i.e. PhD, EdD) in a related health care field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in integrated health and wellness settings is preferred.
  • At least 2 years teaching experience in undergraduate/graduate programs or adult learning environments is preferred.
  • Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction is preferred.
  • Previous experience with curriculum development and evaluation is preferred.
  • Previous experience with online teaching is preferred.
