The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University, we provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond. The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice. All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility. We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia.

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting with the management, assessment, planning, implementation, expenditure, and evaluation of clinical operational support activities which service the entire Dental College. This includes working with the Director of Clinical Operations on identification of work requirements, staffing, training, and evaluation of staff. Helps assist the direction of the daily activities of 7 areas of patient care operations that include, sterilization, instrument control, simulation lab, dispensaries, central supply, lab tracking, and the production lab. These areas consist of 2 managers, 3 supervisors, and 38 staff. Works closely with the Director to make staffing, purchasing, budget, and personnel decisions. Assists with identifying problems or needs related to clinical operations and reports those issues or needs to the Director. Assists in the development and implementation of departmental standards to include policies, guidelines, protocols, job descriptions and quality management. Assists in approval of expenditures within the clinical operations budget (total in excess of ~$3.7 million). Responsible for maintaining inventory of all patient care supplies, implant parts, bone material, denture teeth, computer aided design crowns, bleaching kits, and precious metals for the DCG. Responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with regulations and internal policies are followed.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

CLINICAL SUPPORT OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Assists with the direct management and daily activities of clinical support operations in 7 areas, to include the 43 staff located in Central Supply, Sterilization, Instrument Control, Simulation Lab, Dispensary, Lab Tracking, and the production Lab. This includes identification of work requirements, staffing, training, and evaluations. Assist the Director in managing all personnel functions to include hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, recommendations for raises, appraisals, approve leave, and recommend further staff development. Responsible for training to improve job performance to assist with employee advancement.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: In coordination with the Director, assists with the flow of patient supplies, instruments, and patient cases, within these units through the DCG internally and externally. Assist with the authorization of expenditures for all supplies and instruments purchased for the Dental College through the DCG budgets. Assist with auditing, analyzing, balancing and troubleshooting accounts for clinical operations in the excess of $3.7 million. Works closely with the Director on all aspects of the assigned budgets, including but not limited to, approving expenditures, reconciling financial statements, and monitoring the accounts for the fiscal year closure. Assists with overseeing the purchasing, receiving, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy, timely delivery, and payment. Consult with current and potential new vendors to ensure the DCG is receiving the highest quality of product and Services as well as cost saving opportunities. Assist with reconciling lab invoices and completing check request for payment. Maintain Axium (patient management system) master files for inventory control of all expendable supplies, instruments, and laboratory cases. Maintain the Digital Dental Exchange module to include all laboratory contracts.

SUPPLY MANAGEMENT: Assist with dispensing and ordering supplies and instrumentation in 1 central supply unit and 4 dispensaries, for support of 13 dental clinics as needed. Ensure all associated stocking areas maintain adequate inventory levels to support the dental clinics. Assist in management of quality control of expendable supplies housed within the DCG dispensary units and Central Supply unit.

SIMULATION LAB: Direct oversight of the simulation lab and its activities to include ensuring accurate dental course material lists are received in a timely manner from the course Directors. Ensure course material and instrumentation are ordered and received prior to the start of any dental course. Ensure random locker checks are completed quarterly and on demand as necessary to prevent hording of dental supplies or instrumentation. Work in coordination with the Dental Dispensary Manager to provide and serve as the liaison for the dental candidate tours; as well as answering any equipment or supply related questions for the Dental board candidates throughout the calendar year. Provide guidance and operational instructions to the Dental Dispensary Manager to ensure the Simulation Lab is adequately clean, stocked, and operational prior to a dental board.

PRODUCTION LABORATORY: Assists with the oversight and daily operation of the Dental College of Georgia's Production Laboratory. Responsible for direct supervision and oversight of one Dental Laboratory Technician Supervisor, one Senior Dental Laboratory Technician and one Dental Research Equipment Technician. Direct and ensure all highly trained dental technicians produce both industry standard quality and quantity of dental prostheses and devices. These standards will be based on comparable outside private production and Dentist quality assurance (acceptability pass rate). Oversight of-$1.5 million in laboratory equipment. Assists with the oversight and operation of the Digital dental program and the analog dental program ensuring the operational workload is met and maintained. Responsible for monitoring the integrity, operation, and compliance of the Digital Dental Exchange (DDX).

GENERAL DUTIES: Assist in the management of sterilization and instrument control units. Oversee the repair and daily sterilization of all patient care instruments. Work with and provide guidance to the Central Sterilization and Instrument Control Manager to ensure AAMI standards for sterilization are adhered to within the Sterilization unit; as well as daily record keeping ensuring we are following appropriate standards and reporting. Run weekly instrumentation reports to ensure clinical instrumentation is being returned to central sterilization within the appropriate timeframes. Serve as a stand in for the Director as needed on the following committees, Implant Committee, Clinical Continuity Committee, Digital Committee, and SimPAC Committee.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with three years of experience in personnel management, materials management & inventory management.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the principles of infectious disease transmission as well as infection prevention and control procedures. Knowledge of dental instruments, equipment and supplies.

Knowledge of Dental terminology. Knowledge of lab processes.

Knowledge and skills in material management to include purchasing, inventory management and stock control.

SKILLS

Strong organization skills, computer skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.

Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits



Pay Band: B12

Salary Minimum: $62,300/Annual

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
