As a key member of a collaborative team, you will design, deliver, and assess faculty-focused professional learning programs that enhance pedagogy and integrate advanced technologies-especially AI-driven solutions. Under the supervision of the Director of Teaching Effectiveness and Fellowship, the Program Director - Faculty Educational Developer provides leadership for designing, delivering, and assessing faculty-focused professional learning programming and advanced technological solutions grounded in robust pedagogical foundations at UVU. As part of a collaborative team, the role of this position is to research, promote, and implement emerging teaching and learning technologies, with a particular emphasis on AI-driven solutions, to enhance innovative and effective pedagogy. The Faculty Educational Developer advances teaching and learning at UVU by spearheading the development of resources and initiating programs focused on the scholarship and practice of effective teaching practices that engage all learners, across all disciplines and instructional modalities.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Provides leadership for the design, development, implementation, and facilitation of faculty-focused educational development programs and initiatives that promote pedagogical innovation, advance the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and other educational technologies in teaching, and foster an engaged, student-centered learning environment. In collaboration with faculty, departments and/or colleges, design and lead initiatives that address instructional needs including pedagogical support for educational technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging digital learning innovations. Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate AI integration and help develop and update curricula to include AI competencies and ethical considerations.
  • Advance teaching and learning at UVU by curating, developing and disseminating documentation and online resources to improve faculty members' AI literacy, expertise in innovative digital learning technologies, and knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices. In collaboration with the Office of Teaching and learning team, investigate and implement scalable digital learning tools, emphasizing AI technologies, to ensure their effectiveness across various learning contexts. Evaluate AI tools for accessibility and engagement to ensure all students benefit. Research and apply best practices in AI to maintain academic integrity and prevent plagiarism.
  • Foster and advocate for faculty scholarship and creative work at UVU by leading the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and Discipline-based Educational Research (DBER) initiatives coordinated by the Office of Teaching and Learning. Model effective SoTL and/or DBER practices for the UVU community and support faculty in the production and dissemination of SoTL /or DBER research. Actively promote SoTL on campus by facilitating or co-facilitating SoTL focused workshops, for faculty, college, and departments as needed, distributing information on SoTL opportunities to colleagues, and serving as mentor to SoTL participants when required.
  • Coordinates regularly with the Office of Teaching and Learning team to conduct needs assessments and make data-informed decisions on initiatives, signature programs, and support UVU faculty and instructors. Collaborates with other key divisions across the institution to support their teaching and learning related initiatives.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Doctorate or terminal degree (e.g., Master of Fine Arts) in the candidate's discipline
  • Teaching Experience as an instructor of record in an accredited higher education institution
  • Active research agenda within the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
Preferred Qualifications
Active record of external service to professional associations dedicated to educational, organizational, or faculty development

  • Solid knowledge of Artificial Intelligence tools and their integration in the classroom to advance innovative teaching.
  • Knowledge from previous classroom experience and using a variety of pedagogies.
  • Knowledge of current pedagogy, instructional technology, and engaged learning methods and their application in the higher education classroom.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning professional development and teaching evaluation.
  • Maintains currency with educational research literature, publishes, supports faculty publications.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in supporting those who teach through workshops, signature programs, retreats, learning communities, and the development of SoTL projects.
  • Program planning and management skills are essential.
  • Strategic planning skills. Systems thinking with outcomes focus.
  • Public relations and marketing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • People management skills, including clear and positive expectations, providing professional growth opportunities, leveraging employee's strengths, and providing feedback.

  • Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders, including faculty members, staff, administrators, students and external agencies.
  • Ability to listen to faculty and administrators to support needs and strategic initiatives.

  • Ability to facilitate the University's efforts with access and inclusion within the teaching and learning space.
