Position Description:
The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine invites applications for Chair of the Department of Orthodontics. This full-time tenure or clinician-educator track faculty position is at the Associate or Full Professor level. It involves the administrative responsibilities for the academic, research and clinical programs of the Department. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong commitment to research as part of our tripartite mission of research, teaching, and patient care.
The Department of Orthodontics is a leader in predoctoral and postgraduate orthodontic education, spearheading a path of clinical excellence built on a strong foundation of evidence-based practice. The Department has educational and clinical facilities within the School of Dental Medicine, as well as CODA-approved advanced education certificate program in orthodontics. Residents can also pursue a Master of Science in Oral Biology (MSOB) and a Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) concurrently with the advanced education certificate program. Current research within the Department ranges from basic to clinical research, with a strong publication record and support from extramural funding.
The chair is responsible for developing programs that support the school's priorities based on our Mission and Vision statements. This role includes the overall administration and leadership of all aspects of the academic departmental programs, research, and teaching. It involves strategic planning and goal setting, financial management, faculty recruitment and development, oversight of graduate and DMD educational programs, research, interactions with other departments and supporting the service missions of both the school and the university. This role requires an individual who can promote collaborative research, improve educational programs, and ensure delivery of exceptional clinical care.

Qualifications
Are eligible for dental licensure in Pennsylvania
Are board-eligible or board-certified in Orthodontics
Hold dual degrees (Master's, PhD, or equivalent)
