Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and execution of emergency preparedness programs and initiatives across the campus. Works closely with departments to ensure readiness for potential emergencies through training, drills, and maintaining up-to-date emergency response plans. Assists with to educating the campus community on safety protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Assists in the development and implementation of campus-wide emergency preparedness programs
2. Contributes to the regular review and update of the university's emergency preparedness plans
3. Coordinates with departments to ensure emergency plans align with university policies and regulations
4. Participates in the organization and execution of emergency drills and exercises, including fire, severe weather, and active shooter drills
5. Assists in the development and delivery of training sessions for students, faculty, and staff on emergency procedures and safety practices
6. Creates outreach and engagement materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media content
7. Tracks and manages the Office of Emergency Management budget and obtain vendor quotes as needed
8. Supports the management and ordering of emergency resources and supplies

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Other Required Qualifications
Completed ICS 100, 200, and 700 or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license

Required Experience
One (1) year of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Experience working in a Higher Education environment

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $24.81 to $34.00 per hour. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to remain calm and effective during emergencies, responding quickly and following established protocols under pressure
Able to work well with various teams across departments, including university security, facilities management, and external partners like local emergency agencies
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Basic understanding of emergency management concepts, including the phases of emergency management (mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery) and relevant regulations (FEMA, OSHA, etc.)
Knowledge of emergency communication systems like mass notification systems, alert systems, and social media platforms for emergency messaging

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
