Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $50,000.00
Maximum $52,000.00

Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Risk Management and Insurance and with a dotted line to the General Counsel, the Administrative Assistant (AA) will be responsible for providing assistance and support to the Executive Director as it relates to administrative, clerical and confidential matters. The AA will also provide assistance to the General Counsel, Associate University Counsel(s) and Legal and Contracts Analyst. The AA will assist with functions related to the operations of the Office of Legal Affairs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individual will interact with members of the university community, insurance broker, insurance representatives, law firms, and other outside entities and individuals. Individual must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities to be able to perform the essential function of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

1. Good verbal and written communication skills are desired. Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with administration, faculty, staff, students and other external contacts using patience, courtesy, and professionalism and in a manner that reflects positively on the department;
2. Excellent computer skills necessary to set up documents in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Share Point;
3. Must have the ability to maintain and handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism;
4. Must have excellent organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload and handle detail-oriented tasks and workloads.
5. Effectively work independently and to seek appropriate guidance when needed.
6. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Required Qualifications
Education:
Minimum AA/AS degree in Administrative Assistant and/or combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job in a satisfactory manner as a substitute for minimum education.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years administrative or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science

Experience:
5+ years of experience providing support in the education industry, preferably in higher education, risk management, or legal department; knowledge of property & casualty insurance and claims processing.
