Position Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator of the Youth Development in Diverse Contexts Lab (YDDC Lab) in the Psychology Department, the Data Manager will manage the data for all research projects in the YDDC Lab. Current projects include three NIH-funded longitudinal studies of sleep, health, discrimination, substance use, and racial socialization. This position aids in speeding up the cleaning and processing of research data, thereby expediting the publication process, which in turn supports the submission of additional grant funding applications.
The Youth Development in Diverse Contexts Lab in the Psychology Department at Fordham University is looking to hire a full-time data manager reporting directly to and supervised by Dr. Tiffany Yip. The position is for 2 years minimum and renewable, contingent on funding.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience and a strong interest in adolescent/young adult development, discrimination, and health disparities.
This position is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about developmental science research and data management. Candidates with graduate degrees (Master's or PhD) are preferred, but excellent applicants with Bachelor's will also be considered.
Essential Functions
- Assumes day-to-day data management for all research projects in the YDDC Lab.
- Cleans, merges, and analyzes data.
- Creates, updates, and runs syntax for scale scoring.
- Updates and maintains data codebooks.
- Runs routine data backups and downloads
- Checks daily on survey responses and compliance.
- Tracks participants and retention through all aspects of the study protocol.
- Updates participant statuses.
- Supervises and engages in sleep data coding

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- B.A. or B.S. in psychology, education, public health, or relevant social science
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience with research in a team-based setting and comfort using research and statistical software and survey platforms

- Manage a project effectively, efficiently, and in an organized manner
- Simultaneously juggle and prioritize multiple competing tasks
- Work efficiently and effectively consider order of operations
- Hire, train, and supervise field research and research administration team

- Communicate effectively, professionally, and in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively in a group-/lab-based environment, including with more senior and more junior colleagues
- Work independently and responsibly with self-motivation and maturity
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree (MA/MS or PhD)
- Prior experience managing federally funded grants
Minimum Starting Salary: $43,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $60,000
