Senior Career Exploration Specialist

The Senior Career Exploration Specialist will focus on providing assistance to students and alumni in need of guidance on determining their field of study and future career goals. In support of this responsibility, the Senior Career Exploration Specialist will work extensively with career and interest based assessment tools and develop strategies to engage with students and alumni needing to make informed decisions regarding their degree and career path.
Essential Functions:
- Provides guidance to those working on identifying their field of study and/or potential career fields. Responding to communications within the required service level agreement
- Administers and evaluates career and education assessments to assist students and alumni in determining their career path
- As requested or directed, mentors fellow Career Exploration Specialists and Career Coaches on how to improve the quality of their coaching
- Participates in the training of new career services staff, serving as the quality assurance reviewer for emails and resumes during initial 90-days and collaborating with the manager on providing feedback
- Collaborate with management to increase engagement with first year students
- Becomes knowledgeable of, and certified in, Emotional Intelligence; utilizes training to engage students and faculty inside, and outside, of the classroom
- Participates in the development and maintenance of resources, to include composing blog posts when needed
- Attends and participates in in-person and virtual events
- Stays abreast of national and local initiatives, hiring trends and industry expectations regarding employment searching
- Other duties as needed to support the mission of the university, the student body and alumni
- Advising skills and knowledge of degree programs
- Extensive experience administering and evaluating career and educational assessments
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong Word and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to resolve issues in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
- Strong analytical, organizational and administrative skills
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and meet department service level agreements

- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of two years' Career Advising experience required
- Career counseling or coaching certification required
- Specialized interest based assessment certification (EQi, StrengthsQuest, etc.) preferred
