The Facilities Technician position provides facilities support for the Charles Town and Manassas offices of American Public Education, Inc. (APEI) and American Public University System (APUS).
Essential Functions:

• Performs work on building electrical systems and circuits.
• Troubleshoots electrical issues and repair findings.
• Assists in the replacement of interior and exterior lamps and fixtures.
• Replaces air conditioning filters throughout campus.
• Maintains and repairs kitchen appliances.
• Provides support for various campus functions and events hosted by APUS.
• Removes snow from entrances and walkways/applies snow melt as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to work with hand tools on a daily basis.
• Must be able to perform assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds or more.
• Must be able to walk up and down steps carrying equipment and tools.
• Must be able to work high off ground.

• General knowledge of hand tools and their usage.
• General plumbing knowledge.

• Ability to acquire information and understand the tasks required of the Facilities Department.

• Valid Driver's license is required.
• Journeymen or Master Electrician license is required.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Some college/technical school is preferred.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office is a plus.
