Hourly Rate or Monthly Salary: Starting $2,039.25 per month

Working Hours: One regular position, 18 hours per week, 10 months per year (Aug-May), on the Oceanside campus; work schedule Monday through Wednesday, 3:15 p.m.-9:15 p.m. The schedule may vary depending on meeting schedule of the ASG. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation. Basic Function and Other Details:
Under the direction of the Dean, Academic Information Services and the Coordinator, Library Operations, offer instructional support to students, faculty and staff by providing access to and instruction in a variety of library resources; provide for the circulation, acquisition and cataloging of library materials; maintain academic reserve collection.

Representative Duties:
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
(E = essential job function)

1. Assist students, staff, faculty, and community members in locating, receiving, and using library resources in a variety of formats ? print, audio-visual and digital. (E)

2. Create reserve room records for instructional resources that faculty require or recommend for classroom assignments; including supplemental course materials in a variety of formats; process instructor provided material and procure library resources requested for academic reserves. Assist instructors with updating open and closed academic reserve material, monitor and revise both the academic reserve database and the physical inventory; provide instructors and information regarding compliance with copyright guidelines for all academic reserve materials. (E)

3. Provide general assistance and directional information to students, faculty and staff; explain library policies and procedures to students, staff, faculty, and community members. (E)

4. Circulate library material according to established procedures; provide password override necessary to perform specific circulation functions.

5. Respond to user incidents with RFID security system alarms.

6. Utilize serials control module to track receipt and process issues of print periodicals according to established procedures. (E)

7. Modify library and institutional user records according to overdue and long overdue circulation policies and procedures; place and clear holds in Student Administration software; place and clear bills in SirsiDynix for lost or damaged library material. (E)

8. Process interlibrary loan lending requests from other institutions via OCLC World Resource Sharing; circulate interlibrary loan borrowing requests; explain interlibrary loan procedures and policies to library users. (E)

9. Provide assistance with and instruction for library equipment including copiers and printers, VCRs, DVD players, mini-DV players, and laserdisc players.

10. Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, filing and duplicating; answer telephone as needed; provide directional and general information; screen and direct incoming calls to appropriate personnel or department.

11. Create user records for members of the community and reciprocal borrowers from NCHEA institutions; prepare records and reports as directed; distribute information as necessary. (E)

12. Provide work direction to student workers and campus aides.

13. Prepare library for opening and closing, securing public areas, starting equipment, logging into a variety of software programs and related activities. (E)

14. Perform related duties as assigned.

Type of Benefits:
Plus a possible 2.5% shift differential based on the hours worked. Also included are vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and enrollment in a retirement system.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:

1. Associate degree or the equivalent; AND

2. One year of related work experience.
(IMPORTANT: For work experience, one "year" is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months, or at least 2,080 hours)

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Completion of a certificate for a library technician/technical assistant program. 2. One year of experience working in a public or academic library setting
