Position Announcement

The faculty of the College of Arts and Humanities at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track, Assistant Professor and Director University Gallery position in the Arts and Design department

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include facilitating professional and student exhibits in Art and Design, expanding the Internship program, and teaching one to two courses per semester in the department (Art Appreciation, Art History Survey courses, and Upper Division courses). Other duties include development and grants, curriculum development, participation in developing departmental procedures, student advisement, involvement in student outcome assessment, and committee service at the department, college, and university levels. The Director of the Gallery is expected to continue scholarly and professional activities.

Arts and Design Department
The Art and Design Department strives to give its students a rich and thorough arts education. Whether a student's focus be Studio Art, Design, or Art History the faculty and staff are dedicated to helping students reach their goals. The department also offers five art minors: Art History, Studio, Design, Digital Graphics, and Crafts. The Art and Design department includes the University Art Gallery, which presents eight to ten exhibitions and related events throughout the academic year, and is a valuable resource to the department as well as to the University as a whole and to the surrounding community. Further amenities include working studios in ceramics, sculpture, painting and drawing as well as two Mac computer labs for design and visual arts. The Art and Design Department welcomes a diverse student body and continues to cultivate an academically rigorous cross-disciplinary program that prepares students for professional work post-graduation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
M.F.A. or M.A. in Museum Studies or equivalent. Applicants holding the M.A. in Museum Studies must have a record of significant experience. All degrees must be in hand by August, 2018
1 year of college level teaching experience, including teaching assistant experience
2 years of professional curatorial experience
Ability to teach Art Appreciation, Art History Survey courses, and Upper Division courses
Experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural and academic backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Art History
5 years of professional curatorial experience
Effective college level teaching experience (non-teaching assistant)
Evidence of successful grant writing and development experience
Execution and development of public programming targeting underserved and local communities
Evidence of innovation and leadership in Arts programming
